William "Bootsy" Jones

Compared to many musicians who have been playing since childhood, this vibrant-spirited, charming and gifted young man has proven that faith, drive and focus were the key factors in landing him in the seat of his success today.

Bootsy earned a basketball scholarship to Southern Connecticut State University where he received his Bachelors of Science in Sociology with a focus in Quantitative Analysis. Although he was an extremely talented basketball player, Bootsy dismissed his “hoop dreams” as he witnessed the constant struggle his father (Pastor) was having with the revolving door of musicians that passed through the church. It was then that Bootsy made a proactive decision to set up his keyboard in the choir stand to mimic the organists as they played during each service.

Bootsy's determination has paid off, as he is now the head of music & arts at the landmark First Calvary Church of Brooklyn, NY. While he is faithful to that responsibility, Bootsy has grown to be a sought after musician, producer, and audio engineer, not just in the gospel sect, as he has even worked with various mainstream secular artists. Bootsy opened BJM Recording Studio in June of 2013 which has housed some of the top artists in the music industry. Bootsy's resume is rapidly growing. He has penned hit songs including “Everything’s Alright” for the late great Timothy Wright, "Sho Been Good & Able" for Keith "Wonderboy" Johnson, "For My Good & In You" for Timiney Figueroa ,“I’m Gonna Wait” for Earl Jones, Jr, "Just Your Name," which hit the Top 50 Gospel Billboard chart in 2013, "Fix It" for James Hall & WAP, "Glory" for John P. Kee, and "Lord Be Pleased" which hit Top 30 on the Christian Billboard chart in 2016. Bootsy’s latest success story derives from his production of the Jones Boys freshman album "New Day” which debuted at #27 on Gospel Billboard Charts in 2018. Bootsy has also shared music with many other artists in the gospel genre such as Dottie Peoples, Marvin Sapp, Hezekiah Walker, Crystal Aiken, and Angela Spivey.
